Boston College Defeats Florida State

In what was the the biggest game of the season, Boston College defeated Florida State 27-17. Boston College now is in control of the Atlantic Division, and if we win out we will earn another birth to the ACC Championship Game. Tonight the Boston College Defense played spectacular, holding the vaunted rushing attack of Florida State in check. In fact, FSU Punter Gano was the leading rusher (24 yards) after his fake punt run. You can't say enough about Coach Spaz and this defense. Everyone played great tonight, the secondary made big plays when we neeeded and came up with three big interceptions. The pressure up front was good, especially Raji and Brace who dominated the line of scrimmage. Herzlich and the linebackers all put in great efforts as usual.
The offense played the best they have in a while. Crane's play was improved, although his fumbles nearly cost us the game. His accuracy, even on completions, is a concern because it often limits their chances to run after the catch. He also made a bone head play to slide a yard before the first down forcing a 3rd and 1 instead of putting his head down for the the extra yard. I think if he plays like this we can win our next two games. He has managed to avoid the big interception his last few starts, which has certainly helped our cause. Harris was great. I'm pleased that Herbstreit recognized potential and ability and was praising him all night. Haden picked up a couple huge first downs, with his 50 yard catch and his 14 yard run on 3rd and 12.
The play calling was pretty good, but I think the execution was the difference tonight. BC benefitted from a lack of discipline by Florida State. The personal foul that led to an automatic first down for BC on our final drive was huge. Not sure if everyone saw the little skirmish at the end of the game. FSU's WR Parker was a punk, Rollins simply tried to go up to him after the game, but Parker shoved him away and Rollins took offense to this. Just shows the undisciplined approach FSU's players take.
Overall, great win, but BC really needs to focus and prepare for a tough Wake Forest Team. The good news is Wake has been struggling lately, but more on that to come later this week. For now lets just enjoy the win.
