Bicknell Jr. to Leave BC

The Boston Globe is reporting that Jack Bicknell Jr. will be leaving Boston College and taking the assistant offensive line job with the New York Giants. According to the Globe's Mark Blaudschun, Bicknell was discouraged when he was passed over for the head coaching job and no guarantee was made that Spaziani would retain him. It was no secret that Bicknell wanted to be a head coach again, but when he was not hired for the UMASS job, he must have assumed the NFL was the next best move for his career. Best of luck to Bicknell Jr. in the NFL.

I assume this means the end to the short-lived zone blocking scheme at Boston College. While it appeared effective in some stretches, I was not a huge fan, and I hope to see us return to a normal blocking scheme. BC should have one of their better offensive lines in recent years as they return 4 starters to an already talented group.
